Chairman of the Board, President and Chief Executive Officer
DONALD E. BROWN, M.D. co-founded his third software company, Interactive Intelligence, in October 1994 and has served as Chief Executive Officer since April 1995 and President since inception. Dr. Brown also serves as Chairman of the Board, a position he has held since July 1998. Dr. Brown has been a director since inception. In March 1988, Dr. Brown co-founded Software Artistry, Inc., a developer of customer support software that became a public company in March 1995 and was subsequently acquired by IBM Corporation in January 1998. At Software Artistry, Dr. Brown served as Chief Executive Officer and director from inception through September 1994. Dr. Brown's first software company was acquired by Electronic Data Systems, Inc. in September 1987. Dr. Brown graduated from the Indiana University School of Medicine in 1985. He also holds two additional degrees from Indiana University, an M.S. in computer science and a B.S. in physics.
Richard G. Halperin brings to the Board 30 years of sales and management experience working with technology companies. Mr. Halperin served as chief executive officer of Coherent Networks International Inc., a GIS software company specializing in the utility and telecom industries, until 1999. Prior to that, Mr. Halperin served as chief executive officer of JBA International, a unit of JBA Holdings, a global ERP software company based in the United Kingdom, from 1991 to 1998; vice president of sales and services for System Software Associates, a provider of extended enterprise solutions and services ("SSA"), from 1985 to 1989; and area director responsible for sales, support and administrative operations of Wang Laboratories, a provider of computer-based office information processing systems, from 1983 to 1985. Prior to that, Mr. Halperin spent nine years at IBM Corporation in various marketing and management positions. Mr. Halperin previously served on the board of directors of several private companies and one public company, including Story Inc., JBA International, Advanced Graphical Applications, Airborne Control Technologies, Made2Manage, Coherent Networks International, Epigragh and multiple SSA affiliates. Mr. Halperin graduated from Northwestern University with a B.S. degree in business administration.
Edward L. Hamburg advises or serves on the board of directors of various high technology companies and is a venture partner with Morgan Stanley Private Equity. Dr. Hamburg serves as the Company's audit committee chairman and as a director and audit committee chairman of Interlink Electronics (OTC: LINK.PK), Perceptive Software, and Thrupoint. He also serves as a director of Core Security Technologies and HyPerformix, Inc. Dr. Hamburg was Executive Vice President of Corporate Operations, Chief Financial Officer, and Corporate Secretary of SPSS Inc. (NASDAQ: SPSS) ("SPSS") from 1992-2004. SPSS is a global provider of predictive analytics software technology and services. Dr. Hamburg managed SPSS' two public offerings, directed its mergers and acquisitions activities, and was responsible for all aspects of the firm's business infrastructure, including finance and treasury, corporate marketing, human resources, legal and corporate governance, and information technology. Dr. Hamburg was head of SPSS' business development from 1986 to 1992 after roles as a sales engineer, product manager, analytical consultant, and trainer. Dr. Hamburg received a Ph.D. from The University of Chicago and was an assistant professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He received his M.A. and B.A. from the University of Maryland at College Park.
Michael C. Heim is the Vice President, Information Technology and Chief Information Officer of Eli Lilly and Company ("Lilly"), a position held since January 2004. Prior to that, Mr. Heim had been the chief technology officer with accountability for enterprise architecture and data strategy, the global implementation of SAP, and global financial and human resources information technology solutions since November 1999. Mr. Heim joined Lilly in 1979 as an analyst in the corporate information systems group, became a staff financial auditor for the financial component in 1981 and later became Lilly's first certified information systems auditor. In 1985, Mr. Heim rejoined information systems as manager with responsibility for manufacturing, marketing, financial and human resource systems support. Mr. Heim was named a manager of engineering for facilities delivery administration in 1989 and director of information systems-medical operations in 1992. In 1995, Mr. Heim was promoted to information officer for Lilly Research Laboratories and in 1998 was named information officer for European and intercontinental operations with responsibility for IT activities outside the United States.
Mr. Heim serves on a number of executive councils including the Microsoft Pharmaceutical Advisory Council, the SAP Life Sciences Executive Council, and the Dean's Advisory Council-Indiana University School of Informatics. A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, Mr. Heim received a Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration from Marian College and an M.B.A. from Bowling Green State University.
Mr. Mark Hill is Managing Partner of Collina Ventures, LLC, a private
investment company focusing on technology companies. Mark co-founded Baker Hill® in 1983. Focusing on the banking industry, the company serves as
a trusted advisor to its banking clients and delivers solutions that address business process needs. In 2005, the company was acquired by Experian®, a
global information solutions company. Mark oversaw the transition through 2006.
In addition to his roles with Interactive and Collina, Mark serves on the board of numerous technology companies, including Bluelock, T2 Systems,
Cantaloupe and Angel Learning.
Mark serves Central Indiana in various capacities, including board membership on CICP, CICF, United Way and the Techpoint Foundation. He is
an adjunct professor at the Indiana University School of Informatics and former chair of its Dean's Council. He started his career at IBM and holds a B.B.A. from the University of Notre Dame and an M.B.A. from Indiana
University Kelley School of Business.
Richard A. Reck is the founder and President of Business Strategy Advisors LLC (BSA), a business strategy consultancy that focuses on serving technology, services, and entertainment companies. He is a licensed Certified Public Accountant and had been a partner with KPMG LLP, a Big Four CPA firm, for nearly 30 years.
Mr. Reck is a member of the board of directors of Merge Technologies, a public health care software and information company; Advanced Life Sciences Holdings, Inc., a public biopharmaceutical company; Sivox Technologies, Inc., a private call center training and quality software company; and LiquidGeneration, a private media and internet services company. He is also a board member of the Illinois Information Technology Association (formerly the Chicago Software Association), the Illinois Technology Development Alliance, Journeys in Film, and the Illinois Fatherhood Initiative which are not-for-profit corporations.
Mr. Reck received a Bachelor of Arts degree in mathematics from DePauw University and an MBA in accounting from the University of Michigan. Prior to joining KPMG, Mr. Reck was a systems analyst/programmer in management information systems for two large NYSE companies. He is a certified public accountant in the states of Michigan and Illinois and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Illinois CPA Society, the Technology Executives' Club, and the Chicago Software Association. He has served as Chairman of the Illinois Software Association and is the founder of the Software Financial Executives Forum. He has been listed in "Who's Who In The Computer Industry," as one of Crain's Chicago Business "Chicago's 100 Most Influential Technology Players," in Crain's "Who's Who of Chicago Business," in Crain's "The Internet 100," and listed among the top 100 people of Chicago's high tech economy by I-Street.
