Chairman of the Board, President and Chief Executive Officer
DONALD E. BROWN, M.D. co-founded his third software company, Interactive Intelligence, in October 1994 and has served as Chief Executive Officer since April 1995 and President since inception. Dr. Brown also serves as Chairman of the Board, a position he has held since July 1998. Dr. Brown has been a director since inception. In March 1988, Dr. Brown co-founded Software Artistry, Inc., a developer of customer support software that became a public company in March 1995 and was subsequently acquired by IBM Corporation in January 1998. At Software Artistry, Dr. Brown served as Chief Executive Officer and director from inception through September 1994. Dr. Brown's first software company was acquired by Electronic Data Systems, Inc. in September 1987. Dr. Brown graduated from the Indiana University School of Medicine in 1985. He also holds two additional degrees from Indiana University, an M.S. in computer science and a B.S. in physics.
Stephen R. Head*
Chief Financial Officer, Vice President of Finance and Administration, Secretary and Treasurer
STEPHEN R. HEAD has more than 30 years experience in accounting and financial management with a proven background in public companies. Mr. Head previously served as Vice President, Finance as well as Chief Financial Officer of Gilian Technologies Ltd., (now named Breach Security, Inc.), a provider of application security appliances. Prior to Gilian, he was Senior Vice President, Finance and Administration from 1999 to 2001 at planetU, Inc., an e-commerce company serving the consumer packages goods industry and which was acquired by Transora in December 2000. Other financial roles Mr. Head has held in the software industry include VP, Finance and Administration at Made2Manage Systems, Inc., and VP, Finance and CFO of Software Artistry, Inc. -- both of which he guided through initial public offerings and subsequent public reporting. A Certified Public Accountant, Mr. Head began his career in accounting at KPMG, where he was involved in public offerings and SEC reporting for several client companies. He also has served in positions in private industry. Mr. Head is a graduate of Indiana University, where he received both an M.B.A. and B.S. in Business with a concentration in Accounting.
Gary R. Blough*
Executive Vice President, Worldwide Sales
Gary R. Blough has been executive vice president of worldwide sales for Interactive Intelligence since July 2004. Blough had been vice president of sales for Europe, Middle East and Africa since January 2002, and served as area director and vice president of sales for Western U.S. and Latin America since joining the company in February 1997. From January 1992 to February 1997, Blough held various sales positions at CRM software company, Software Artistry, including manager of Western region sales, from January 1993 to February 1997. From January 1990 to December 1992, Blough was director of sales for On-Line Software, a developer of programmer productivity tools. Blough has a bachelor's degree in marketing from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
Joseph A. Staples*
Senior Vice President, Worldwide Marketing
JOSEPH A. STAPLES serves as senior vice president of worldwide marketing for Interactive Intelligence. He oversees the global marketing efforts of the company's award winning contact center and IP communication product lines. Mr. Staples brings 25+ years of experience in technology and marketing to Interactive Intelligence, including specific assignments in the areas of computer telephony, unified messaging, mobile wireless, computer networking, and computer-based education.
Prior to joining Interactive Intelligence, Mr. Staples was the principal of FirstLight Marketing, a successful marketing services company. For the six prior years, he was executive vice president of corporate marketing at Captaris, Inc., a provider of business communication solutions. Previously, Mr. Staples was the vice president of marketing for Callware Technologies, Inc., a provider of unified messaging software. Prior to his employment at CallWare, Mr. Staples spent five years with networking leader Novell Inc., in several management positions. While at Novell he is credited with playing a central role in developing the early stages of the computer telephony industry, including the launch and evangelism of TSAPI, a broadly adopted CTI development platform. Mr. Staples earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Phoenix with an emphasis in marketing.
Mr. Staples is an accomplished presenter and has had a number of articles published in trade magazines on various communication subjects. He was named Novell employee of the year in 1990, was named a Star of the Industry by Computer Telephony Magazine in 1993, and was presented a Lifetime Achievement Award by Customer Interaction Solutions Magazine in 2006.
Pamela J. Hynes*
Vice President, Customer Services
Pamela J. Hynes has served as our Vice President, Customer Services since October 2004. Mrs. Hynes served as our Vice President, Customer Loyalty from September 2003 to October 2004 and our Vice President, Client Services, the Americas and Europe, Middle East and Africa from July 2001 until September 2003. Mrs. Hynes served as our Vice President, North American Client Services from September 1999 until July 2001 and prior to that as our Director of Client Services since joining us in November 1996. Mrs. Hynes was an Account Manager at Software Artistry from July 1996 to October 1996 and the Support Services Manager of Software Artistry from August 1992 to July 1996. Prior to August 1992, Mrs. Hynes served in a number of technical roles at Software Artistry, including Application Development, Technical Instructor and Field Engineer. Before joining Software Artistry, Mrs. Hynes served as Technical Support Engineer at American Financial Resources, a software development company. Mrs. Hynes holds a B.S. degree in management information systems from New Hampshire College.
William J. Gildea III*
Vice President, Business Development
William J. Gildea joined Interactive Intelligence in March 2008 as Vice President, Business Development. Prior to joining the company, Mr. Gildea was a sell-side financial analyst covering the communications technology industry at Janney Montgomery Scott (2004-2008) and an associate analyst at Wachovia Securities (2000-2004). Mr. Gildea started his career as a communications attorney in private practice in Washington, D.C. (1993-1998). Mr. Gildea holds a B.A. from William & Mary, a J.D. from Catholic University, and an MBA from the University of North Carolina.
Michael D. Gagle , Ph.D.
Chief Scientist
MICHAEL D. GAGLE, Ph.D. has served as Chief Scientist since March 1998. From the time Dr. Gagle joined Interactive Intelligence in March 1995 until March 1998, he served as our Principal Software Engineer and Project Leader. Before joining Interactive Intelligence, Dr. Gagle spent five years working on a variety of applied projects at AT&T Bell Labs. Dr. Gagle's previous experience also includes co-founding and serving as Vice President for Research and Development for Micro Data Base Systems, Inc., a developer of PC database systems, working on the technical staff of Microsoft Corporation and serving from January 1994 to September 1994 as a senior developer with the Regenstrief Institute for Health Care Research. Dr. Gagle holds a Ph.D. in management information systems and a B.S. in industrial management from Purdue University.
